Setting Residual Stresses in Tensile Stress-Superposed Incremental Sheet Forming

Incremental sheet metal forming (ISF) is a flexible process to manufacture parts. ISF processes allow control of residual stresses depending on the parameters and acting mechanisms. These forming-induced highly influence product properties. This paper presents numerical experimental results demonstrating biaxial tensile stress-superposed incremental (TSSIF) stress truncated cones. An adjustable clamping frame used apply defined over plane in direction during forming. Residual are evaluated by means x-ray diffraction both sides cone wall. Tensile stress-superposition shifts amplitudes region, amount initial stress. TSSIF can be improve properties compressive stress-imposed components.
